Scenario #4. Collector chooses to sell one of his priced possessions. It can be painting of famous author, museum quality with perfect authentication papers. There are many extraordinary life situations leadingto parting with true jewel of the collection. In some cases,collectorneeds immediate large sum of money. The property may be used as collateral or impounded and official sale impossible. The art piece can be exhibited in the museum but sale is desired. Collector may choose not to share profits of sale with spouse or government.

Based on description of the great art piece, fast and easy sale seems most probable. However, due to other conditions, the sale must be private. This situation is paradoxical. The sale geared towards full price but has to be done “under the table”. The collector starts, so called, home or private auction . Owner uses trusted person to secretly spread news about availability of famous authentic art piece at the right price. The gossip includes details that the owner is snobby , inadequate and may refuse to sell because there is no need in money. Information spreads very confidentially. Often, even image of painting is secret.  Many buyers get involved in this game.
